Against form (for me...I prefer to spend Sundays sitting inert watching football, drinking alcoholic beverages, and fretting about the next week at work), Caroline and I spent 2+ hours this afternoon cutting back bushes, chopping down massive weeds (I could have used a machete...there were no fewer than twenty 8 foot tall pokeweeds that seem to have taken over the jungly half of the yard's center island), and raking the front yard.

Caroline was a good helper and waved to all passers-by. We're both zonked, but the yard looks a LOT better.

After playgroup this morning, Caroline and I went with Darcie and Clayton to early vote. The voting itself was a waste of time, since we completely canceled each other out. But Caroline and Clayton had a great time together, so that was worth it.

Caroline finally got a replacement for Tasty. No name on this one yet.

We went to Clayton's birthday party this afternoon. It was quite the event. There were at least 40 kids and their families in attendance, as well as face-painters, a bird handler, storytellers, and a real live fish.

Caroline lost this match, but I`m sure it was a valuable learning experience.

We went to the Caroline's karate school's family picnic this afternoon. We weren't expecting the giant crowd. They must be doing something right. Though there were plenty of organized activities, Caroline spent her time collecting acorns with her friends Lexi and Jessica. I was hoping they'd have a battle royale among all the students, or at least among the black belts, but it was not to be.

We went to the fair with some playgroupians this afternoon. Here Caroline is in front of a certain door stop that should have won.

The canning competition wasn't as upsetting as it was last year.

This is Cheryl. Change the hair, the clothing styles, and the age of the kids, and I'll betcha (thanks SP) that these crazy kids are in the same spot 10 - 15 years from now... Might not be wit each other, but I'll bet they are in similar poses.

I am so entering this contest next year.

Playgroup toured Winston-Salem Fire Station #2 this morning. We weren't able to slide down the pole or go up the ladder, but the kids all seemed to have a blast.

It was raining, and Caroline's been begging for a trip to Chuck E Cheese. She had fun.

This picture is terrible. She's saying "cheese". Perhaps a new word is needed.
