I cleaned up the leaves in the front yard for the first time today, making a giant pile at the curb. Leave pickup starts on Wednesday, so most raking in the neighborhood began this weekend.

And yet, the majority of the leaves haven't fallen yet. Looks like I'll be getting Caroline a toddler rake...

It's time you put that girl of yours to work!

Your post reminded me of living in Michigan, and everyone raking their leaves into the street. At the time, I thought it was really strange, until I realized the city would come through with snow plows (yes, snow plows) and clean them up. That's a pretty good way to do it.

Out here, of course, we don't have anything like that. Mostly because we don't have any trees. I think Nebraskans think that, if you were dumb enough to plant a tree in your yard, you deserve to pick up the mess yourself.

I can't wait to live somewhere with trees again!
