Last night, Caroline fought against bedtime until about 9:30. Tonight, we figured we'd take her to the fireworks in Seaside Heights. She fell asleep around 7:15. Here, she's fading post-bath with Grandpa Z shortly after 7.

Caroline went to the fireworks at Seaside Heights! Fabulous! When I was a little girl living in Toms River, my parents would take us to Seaside Heights in the evenings. We'd play mini-golf on the roof of one of the buildings, and my father would neurotically time our game so that we would be at the edge facing the ocean at the exact moment the fireworks went off. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I know Caroline is going to remember all the things you've done for her as a girl with the same fondness when she grows up, even if the details are a little fuzzy.

Sadly, she was in her crib well before the 9pm show, and we didn't want to wake her for the trip. She'll have to wait until next summer, when she'll appreciate them more. Cheryl and I went, though, and I have to say it was a far more impressive display than the ones I remember seeing when we were kids.
